Horse & Rider Session // Megan & Ellie

Spending time with Megan always puts a smile on my face, she is such a kind-hearted and genuine person, who loves her horses above all else! I have captured her connection with her own horse, Kira many times before but this was my first time photographing her new lease horse, Ellie. Though Ellie is more spirited and firey in personality than Kira, I think Megan found two very similar horses, in more than just looks, and two incredible mares who give Megan their all.

Capturing a partnership in its early stages, and one that may not last as long, as is the nature of leasing a horse, is always such a joy, as you’re able to capture the gift that these horses give us, even when the partnership isn’t built on years of trust. It allows me to gain an understanding that each horse who comes into our lives, for however long, is there for a reason, to teach us something unique and to share their special love with us for however long enough that we are lucky to share it. It was very obvious at this session that Megan and Ellie have already built a deep friendship and respect for one another and I felt honored to capture their partnership and Ellie’s stunning beauty and fiery personality! I’m excited to see the rest of the bright future that these two will share on their journey together.
