Laura's Family Photos

If you look back through the blog posts, you will see a lot of horses, and only horses. I advertise myself as an equine photographer and so it was out of the ordinary when I pulled up to Spruce Meadows to take Laura’s family photos. Laura, who didn’t currently own a horse, wanted the impressive equestrian local as the background for Christmas portraits with her son and husband. When I pulled into the parking lot, I knew that the location would not disappoint. Shooting family photos was going to be a complete change of pace for me but I was excited about the challenge and to meet Laura and her family!

Laura and her family were all dressed beautifully and her young son, Colin, immediately stole the show, beaming for the camera. His bright blue eyes shone brightly as we all explored the Spruce meadows grounds. It was lovely to spend the afternoon getting to know Laura and her family, chit-chatting about all things equestrian and being captivated by the beauty of Spruce Meadows, which was all decorated for the Holiday season. Although we didn’t get the chance to see any real ponies, Colin was enthralled with the statues of the horses and the family got some photos with them. I’m sure Colin’s interest with horses will only grow!

Laura’s family was lovely and the day was filled with smiles and laughter. It was wonderful to see the magic of the season, and of horses, through the eyes of a child as young as Colin. Everything was filled with excitement and adventure for him and it was a joy to capture this. The magic of this season is all about the people we spend it with and the memories we make together!
