Christmas Mini // Ashbren Photo Day

Well, we made it! The last blog for a 2020 session! This was such an incredible year and I am so grateful I got to capture so many beautiful horses and connections, thank you to those of you who let me into your lives to capture some magic!

I was thrilled to finish the year at Ashbren, a barn that has quickly become familiar to me this year, with many close friends boarding there. I was lucky enough to be capturing 3 lovely horse and rider partnerships, but not so lucky with the weather! The day was spent quickly running outside for 5 minutes of photos before hurrying back inside to get out of the wind and warm up! It would have been nice if the weather could have cooperated a little better but none the less, everyone warmed me with their kindness and the love they held for their horses!

I started the day off by meeting Hana and the adorable Tobi. Interacting with Tobi, I never would have guessed he was only 3 years old! He didn’t bat an eye at any of the shenanigans of the day, even with the blistering wind and was a total model horse, Hanna sure lucked out with him! It was clear by watching them that even though they were still in the early part of their partnership, that they had built a strong connection and more importantly a deep and playful friendship.

“tobi is very curious and loves snuggles. i love how sweet and honest he is considering he is so young.”

Fong-Yee and Blaze were my next pair in front of the camera and I have to say Fong-Yee is one of the kindest and most welcoming people I have met! She was lovely to chat to and it came across so clearly the love that she has for her horse and the sport in general. It was a pleasure to capture not only her adoration and connection with Blaze but also her friendliness and kindness, which I’m sure shines through in her beautiful smile!

“he is my heart horse and i love every minute that I get to spend with him.”

Last, but certainly not least was Karlee and Q! If you’ve been a follower of mine for a while, you will certainly be familiar with this pair and I really don’t think that they need an introduction after their 4th photoshoot with me (read their previous blogs here, here and here)! It was lovely as ever to spend time with them, and to see how yet again Q has gotten taller! Despite Karlee almost losing her fingers to the cold (kidding, mostly), we had a blast again and I was so glad that they finally got some sunset pictures after having bad luck with the weather the last 3 sessions!

“he very quickly became my best friend and the horse of my dreams.”
