Horse & Rider Session // Trish, Amadeus, Canela & Fusion

Photographing Trish and her three equines came after a long day of photographing many of the stunning horses at New Horizon Ranch, somewhere upwards of 20 horses. It was refreshing after a day of capturing conformation shots to work creatively with Trish and to capture her unique bonds with Canela, Amadeus and Fusion!

I’ve known Trish for somewhere between 5 and 8 years and have in that time seen her acquire first Canela, then Amadeus and most recently Fusion, and many horses in between. Canela was her first horse, an off the track thoroughbred that she shares many stories and up’s and down’s with. Although Canela was never her top competition horse and has had many injuries on and off, it is clear that the pair share a special bond and friendship, one that only comes with your first horse I think. Fusion is Canela’s second foal and a spunky and determined warmblood cross. Trish was expecting a dark horse, likely a bay and was ecstatic to find the newborn chestnut filly in the middle of the night, exactly what she had been hoping for. Though the filly is still young, I can already picture the memories her and Trish will make together and the joy she will being to her, carrying on a piece of Canela always.

Amadeus has been Trish’s main horse for the last couple years, a stunning Arabian Friesian cross and a horse with an infectious personality, incredible work ethic and the ability to do almost anything, from winning jumper classes to spending a week in the mountains. It’s easy to understand why Trish fell in love with the easy going, spirited and athletic horse!

Trish is a hard working horsewoman, as true to the term as they come and has had many horses in her life, from training the young horses, working on project ponies and getting to learn herself on the more seasoned and impressive horses but it is clear that at the end of the day, these 3 horses will always hold the most special place in her heart. They are so much more than horses but rather dear friends, trusted team mates and partners through life.
