Horse & Rider Session // Rachael & Logan
I am ridiculously behind on blogging and it is my goal for January to get caught up, so be prepared for a flood of incoming blogs, starting with the wonderful Rachael and Logan! This session actually was all the way back in June, before Amberlea Jump with Hope and TBIRD but I held off on blogging this session because shortly after our session, Logan faced some very serious health concerns and needed immediate veterinary care. His future was uncertain and the images became too painful for Rachael to look at. In those moments I think both of us were grateful to have captured these summer memories of the pair, but the worry of them being some of the last wonderful moments hung heavy in the air.
Thankfully, Logan is now doing much better and “loving life”, so I thought it was about time to tell their story on the blog!
Rachael came to the sport later in life, pursuing a childhood dream and she never looked back. I think it is far rarer to welcome horses later in your life, as by that point we have developed the rational part of our brain that tells us “Heck no, why would you invest so much money into this” but I think there is no person more meant for this sport and life than Rachael. She is an incredible positive, uplifting and down to earth person, who puts her horse above all else and will happily sacrifice to keep him happy and healthy. Rachael and Logan have shared a successful adventure in the show ring, both in Jumpers and Eventing, but above all else, they share a clear friendship and devoted partnership that is built on trust and laughter. It is clear when you spend time with them that the ribbons and moments in the ring matter far less than the time spent together and the quiet moments snuggling at the barn. After over 5 years together, it is clear this is a bond that will stand the test of time!
