The Quick Family
Well it's been a minute! I kept waiting for my schedule to settle and my life to become less hectic to get back to blog posting, but I've realized that is just not going to happen. Blogs might be a bit further between now but I will try and get back to a regular posting schedule.
This session was back in August and was a first for me, dealing with 3 horses at once, or should I say 2 ponies and 1 giant horse. It was a bit daunting going in but turned out to be absolute magic. I arrived for our 4:00PM session to find all three equines in the barn, Teshia busy getting them ready. I enjoyed the time getting to know Ocean, Blue and Teeka before we started in front of the camera.
"I should have brought a bottle of wine" were Teshia's words less than half an hour into the session and we all burst out laughing. It wasn't because anything was going wrong, but when you're dealing with 3 horses and a young child, sometimes you need to take the edge off. Teshia's husband, and the trusty session assistant, commented that he had in fact brought the wine. Clearly she picked the right one to marry. The wine was brought out and things were a little more fun after that.
Working with Aubrey and her two ponies was absolutely adorable, not much could have made these three any cuter. Teeka was her perfect, blonde, barbie doll pony and every little girls dream pony. The only thing she was missing was a unicorn horn. All three of these blonde ladies looked absolutely beautiful together. Aubrey's second pony, Blue, is the definition of adorable. He is a tiny, slightly chubby, miniature horse and the perfect size for Aubrey. His striking blue eyes and curious personality were impossible to resist. Although Aubrey is still young, it was clear that these two ponies would help her develop valuable horse-woman skills, of which Teshia was diligently teaching her.
Teshia herself is an experienced horse woman and it was lovely to capture her bond with her horse, Ocean. Ocean certainly isn't a pony and towered over his smaller "siblings". A tall rider like Teshia is perfectly suited to this elegant Thoroughbred. Teshia's classy outfit paired with Ocean's impeccable stature made them look like something out of a magazine. It's not everyday that you get models as perfect as this.
Capturing this human and equine family was truly a treasure and such a joy to watch the moments between the horse and girl. We all wish to grow up as lucky as Aubrey and to become as talented and experienced as Teshia. Being an equestrian is multigenerational and a family affair if you're lucky. It was beautiful to witness the love of horses developing in Aubrey and flourishing in Teshia. They were all a joy to be around and the session was truly a pleasure.
