Carol-Ann + Paramount

Carol-Ann's session was on a beautiful late summer evening and the light could not have been more perfect. The trees still had their leaves, and were starting to become tinged with gold, as fall quickly approached. I knew Carol Ann from around the barn and was excited to capture images of her handsome gelding, Paramount. I knew these two would bring glamour and class to the images. I was excited for the golden evening magic.

Carol-Ann had her two friends with her for the session, one of whom, Robyn, I knew from our own session together earlier in the season. They were both incredibly helpful and took on many jobs in the sessions, from equipment carrier, behind the scenes photographer(see below) to horse attention-getter. Robyn's antics to get Monty's ears forward were particularly entertaining and had us all laughing.

As I had expected, Monty and Carol-Ann were excellent models and made an extremely elegant team for photos, Monty knew exactly how to pose and Carol-Ann was relaxed and beautiful in front of the lens. Combined with a stunning evening sunset, it made for some absolutely stunning images, I think I would have kept shooting until the light was all gone, but Monty's attention was a little spent after nearly 2 hours.

It was an incredibly enjoyable session, filled with smiles and laughter, not to mention delicious muffins from Carol-Ann! I felt privileged to capture such a beautiful partnership, and such an incredibly athletic team. It was wonderful to watch Monty in the arena, I only hope to capture him jumping one day as well.

Carol-Ann operates Foreward Pass Equestrian, located in Edmonton AB and specializing in dressage and show jumping. Carol-Ann offers training, coaching and H/J judging services. She has brought up her own homebred horses and competed through the levels in dressage, eventing and showjumping. She is an equestrian with talent to spare and an impressive rider.
