🎄Nevaeh & Danny{Christmas Mini-Session}🎄

Nevaeh’s session was at the last few minutes of the day, by the time I got there and got my camera out the sun was nearing the horizon and all its light was nearly gone but the winter sunset gifted us with dreamy purple light. Nevaeh looked as if she had dressed for the sky and complimented the dusty pink with her sweater. She looked adorable in her flowy skirt but it was obvious as her personality came out in front of the camera that although she looked like a princess, she was a tough little horsewoman in the making.

Danny is the adorable chestnut pictured below and he was a total sweetheart for our session, although getting him to put his ears forward was a huge challenge. Nevaeh’s mother was running around, throwing frozen horse poop and sticks to get the gelding’s attention and even then it was fleeting. It got Nevaeh laughing though and allowed me to capture some beautiful smiling moments. It was a treasure to capture her bond with the retired and seasoned show horse! He may have been uninterested in the photoshoot but it was clear that he and Nevaeh shared the deep connection of a girl and her horse.

The photoshoot was fleeting as it was freezing cold, certainly not tutu weather! Nevaeh was a great sport though and happily smiled through the cold, I couldn’t have asked for a better model, especially at her age! Nevaeh and Danny are a reminder that it’s not about ribbons, or shows or how fancy your pony may be but about the love of a horse and how special it is as a little girl to get to love a pony! Sharing your heart with a horse and receiving their trust is unlike anything else and is such a gift, especially as a child. I’m so lucky to have gotten to meet Nevaeh and Danny and capture their connection as a girl and her horse.
