Equine Portrait Session // Rev & Rocky

We made it, the blog from the last session of July! Only like a month late haha! I wish I could have posted this earlier, especially given the fact that Laura had to part with both her wonderful horses just after our session but as Iā€™m sure most of you felt, August flew by and I got incredibly caught up in the chaos of life. None the less, I hope that this late blog post can tug on some memories of Lauraā€™s and bring her some joy!

Lauraā€™s session was planned at the last minute, organized in a few days, because that was all the time she had left before her beautiful boyā€™s got loaded onto the trailer and started on their new journey, with their new family. I knew that we had to get a session scheduled, no matter how hectic it made my week because this was the reason I loved photography so much in the first place, the gift of giving someone treasured memories that would last a lifetime. It was obvious watching Laura interact with her two horses that she deserved just that, treasured memories of their time together. It was clear that over the years she had built a strong and meaningful connection with each of them.

It is hard to imagine parting with such dear friends after so many years, Rev who has been with her since he was 6 months old, and he is now 14 and Rocky who has been with her since he was a 5-year-old, and is now 23. The hardest part of owning horses is making the difficult choice of letting them go and I can only imagine that it was bittersweet watching them leave, to loose her two faithful partners, teammates and friends, for they are much more than just horses, but knowing that they are going to a loving and caring home, to be adored by new young riders. I can only hope that these images might bring her some joy and a reminder that Rev and Rocky will always be with her, no matter how far their new home may be.
