Katie & Fair Katie VDH {CovEared Up Customs}

Katie was one of my two models for the shoot with CovEared Up Customs and unlike Tori I hadn’t had the privilege to work with her before. I was excited to meet her as I walked into Gorseline Stables! What I was surprised by was when she not only introduced herself as Katie, but her huge chestnut mare as Katie as well. The pair of Katies! I couldn’t help but laugh at this quirky uniqueness of their partnership, after all, it’s not every day you meet a rider with the same name as their horse!

Katie(the horse) was a beautiful chestnut mare, a dutch warmblood, with white stockings and a big white blaze. She was the kind of horse I had always dreamed about, and I’m sure many of you reading this can agree! I only hope I can photograph her again someday, as she is just stunning. It was also easy to tell by looking at her that she was a powerhouse, and probably a force to be reckoned with in the arena. She was not only tall in stature but muscular and walked with purpose and attitude. Katie(the human) talked highly of her partner and explained that it was her fierce attitude and fiery personality that made her such an impressive competitor. With my own gelding having a similar personality, I knew exactly what she was talking about!

It was clear that Katie & Katie shared a strong partnership, even though they were still a relatively new pair. It was obvious that they listened to each other’s cue’s and that their personalities bounced off one another. More than anything it was clear that neither of them took each other too seriously and that a strong dose of laughter existed in their bond. It was a treasure to capture not only Katie’s(the horse) beauty, but to capture their relationship and partnership, even if we all froze out fingers off in the process!
