CovEared Up Customs

Danielle of CovEared Up Custom's and I had been planning this shoot for months. Between the hectic nature of the Christmas season and trying to organize everyone's schedule, it took a long time to find a date that would work for everyone but finally that day was here. I was very excited for the opportunity to photograph Danielle's beautiful bonnets and to work with Tori and Katie's beautiful horses. Of course, it just happened to be blizzarding and blistering cold on the day of the session, nonetheless, I knew we would push forwards through the conditions.

The barn was set up perfectly for black background portraits and so we started with those, capturing the beautiful bonnets in detail. Each girl had at least 3 bonnets, so we were busy switching horses and bonnets, spending only about 10 minutes with each bonnet. Katie, in particular, had a handy trick of removing and replacing the bonnets without taking off the bridle, it certainly helped move things along quicker. Both Pear and Katie(the horse now) were excellent models and happily obliged to putting their ears forwards and looking pretty, especially once treats were involved. They weren't so eager once we left the comfort of the barn to go outside.

I had envisioned beautiful white backgrounds outside and to give the models credit, we made a valiant effort to get photos outside but the snow was simply too heavy for any white backgrounds and we all froze in the 5 minutes that we were outside. I was able to get some beautiful images of the girls snuggling up with their ponies in the winter wonderland, which you can see in the coming blogs!

Though the weather may not have cooperated entirely, it was the most amazing day! I had so much fun meeting Katie & Katie and getting to know Tori & Pear better, and getting to photograph Danielle's most amazing bonnets. The quality was truly beyond anything I've seen before and they are absolutely gorgeous, it is so obvious that so much care and love goes into each bonnet.
