Horse & Rider Session // Delany & Roan
Equine Grad sessions are some of my favourite things to capture, and this horse & rider session in Calgary, Alberta with Delaney and Roan was no different. I joined the recent high school grad and her Thoroughbred mare at L&M Stables near Airdrie. It was on a beautiful evening in late June and the setting sun was the perfect backdrop to capture this meaningful time in Delaney’s life. Graduating truly is a momentous occasion and I always like to make these sessions as personal as possible, including many outfits, props and family/friends, since the accomplishment of graduating is rarely something accomplished alone. Delaney chose three different outfits, getting to show off her beautiful dress, as well as a more casual outfit and an equestrian outfit. We had a lot of fun exploring the property and capturing so many different moments, though Roan was a bit tired of us by the end of the evening. Thankfully we had captured her black background portraits first while she still had some patience to model for us.
It was clear that Roan was not only a special and faithful friend to Delaney, but also well loved by the entire family, getting snuggles and treats from everyone all evening long. Clearly this is a mare who is worth her weight in gold and I’m sure played a big part in getting Delaney through the high school years!
