Christmas Mini // Dana & Sugar
Dana won her session in a giveaway hosted by Equisport Therapy and before our session she asked me if I would prefer working with her mini mare or her arabian show horse. I really had no preference, as long as I have a horse in front of my camera I am a happy camper but now looking back on the session, there is no horse I would have rather photographed than this sassy palomino mini!
Sugar stole my heart from the moment I got there and also stole the show! She was a whole lot of cuteness and sass in one tiny, but wide (curvy), package! Dana shared with me her story, how she had rescued Sugar over a year ago, when she was pregnant. They had figured, given her size, that she would foal soon but had to wait many more months, only to find out that Sugar clearly was bred to a horse, not a pony. I also got to meet her adorable baby, Spice, who is much bigger than little miss Sugar! This little pony clearly went through some challenges in her life but is now spoiled and adored to her hearts content by Dana!
I felt honoured to capture a bit of their remarkable story and loved chatting with Dana after our session. She is a horse woman through and through whose passion and care for her animals comes across strongly and with love. I got to meet some of her other horses, Arabians, a breed which clearly holds a special place in her heart! She is a lucky woman to own so many beautiful horses and it is clear that she cares deeply for all of them. Sugar might be the smallest but she is adored equally, if not more for her sassy and determined personality!
