General FAQ

Every client who books a session with me will receive a welcome package, which includes a guide that will cover everything from what to wear, how to get your horse ready, and printing your images. I will go through the whole process in this guide so that you feel 100% confident by your session date!
-
An image licensed for social media, which is the majority of the images included in your gallery will include a small digital watermark (see the above images for examples). These images are not high resolution and not licensed to be printed. Any images can be purchased as prints through my print store, which are sourced through a high-quality and reputable print store that will provide you with artwork to last a lifetime.
-
A Print Release is the right to print an image. These rights are inherently owned by the photographer once the image is captured. A print release is not provided with my images (except for the 5 selected images with the Diesel package) but it may be purchased for a fee.
-
All images are licensed for personal use only and commercial use is dealt with on a case-by-case basis. If you would like to use your images for your equine-related business, please let me know and I’ll be happy to work with you!

All your digitals will be sent to you in an online gallery within 4 weeks from your session, which will remain active for 1 year. This gallery also contains an online store, from which all your print purchases can be made.
-
Yes, the print release can be purchased for either individual images, for a rate of 100/image, or the entire gallery for $1500. This provides you with high-resolution, un-watermarked images, which you then are free to use as you desire.
-
There is no travel fee if you are within 30km of my location (60 km roundtrip). Beyond this distance, there is a fee applied at a rate of 61 cents/km. If your session is part of a trip (ie. British Columbia, Edmonton clients, etc.) then there will be a flat rate travel fee applied to all sessions.

I do not have a print order minimum in place, so ordering is not required, however your print credit will not be refunded if it is not used and it is not transferable. While I never require a client to print images, as I understand budgets and desires are flexible and individual, if you know that you don’t want prints I would highly recommend the Ship Joy Doc package or considering another photographer, as I will stress the value of prints throughout the experience, simply because I believe they are the best and most important thing I can offer to a client.
Horse & Rider Specific FAQ

As an equine photographer who also specializes in equine portraiture and fine art photography, including an equine portrait session in my All-inclusive package is very important to provide clients with a complete experience. This means you will receive a short black background session for one horse prior to your session and 5 black background images. For more details, see here.
-
I do not split sessions but you are welcome to include additional horses (up to the limit for your package) and people in your session, where we will take group shots together as well as some individual shots. This has worked well for mother/daughter duos or sisters who each have their own horses.
Equine Portraiture Specific FAQ
-
The only thing that is needed for these sessions is a barn with an aisle. The wider the better and the less light in the barn the better, but generally I can make anything work and I have had to work with some less than ideal conditions. If you are concerned about how your barn will work for these images, please feel free to email me with pictures of your set up and we can chat about the possibilities!
-
I am more than happy to work with you to meet your desires and will happily try to achieve specific poses. If you have a visual reference, please provide it before the session and I will fit it into my posing workflow. Images of two or more horses together can also be achieved, either in person or post-session in photoshop. Just let me know beforehand and I’ll make it happen!
-
No. Sessions are intended for one horse only, as this allows me to give each equine my full attention and get to know their unique personality so that this can be captured in your images. If 3 sessions are booked at the same barn you will qualify for a discount.
Private Paparazzi Specific FAQ
-
Yes! Every single one of your rides in the ring will be captured.
-
Depending on the show I may have an assistant present as a back up to help cover all the rings, however your images will always be handled and edited by me, so that the final product will be indistinguishable from my portfolio, whether or not I was the one who clicked the shutter.
-
The package covers up to 2 horses, after that it is an additional 75.00$ per horse. All horses must be owned or leased by you (no catch-ridden horses).
-
Yes! Showing clients will take precedent but if I can fit it in my schedule I am more than happy to come and hang out with you and your horse and capture some more magical moments!
-
If you book a week of coverage, the Diesel package is included. Otherwise, horse & rider sessions are 20% off if booked while you are showing (sessions must be captured at the show venue).
-
Show approval is covered on a case-by-case basis and I am always happy to add more shows to the list so if you are interested in a show not on this list, please ask! Current shows with approval are:

+ Spruce Meadows
+ Desert International Horse Park

I know that it is important to receive images quickly after a show, you want to share about all the success and wonderful moments! Given this, I do my best to get my horse show galleries out as soon as possible, generally, this means a day or two but it can be up to a week depending on how many clients I have taken on at a show and how busy I am. You can always pay an additional rush fee to receive your images sooner.
