Horse & Rider Session // Sophie & Oscar

It was a delightful golden evening for this session, the sun shone brightly through the last remaining leaves on the trees and the horses were slowly beginning to grow their winter fluff. The long days of summer were behind us but a beautiful bed of crisp orange leaves lay on the ground. It was my first time visiting Keno Hills Stable and Tack and their beautiful facility did not disappoint! Stunning tree-lined trails provided the perfect scenery for this Fall Horse & Rider Session, not to mention the beautiful pond at the center of their facility! It is always so much fun to discover the different barns around Edmonton and I hope I have the opportunity to visit this one again!

Sophie and Oscar were an absolute delight to have in front of my camera for their fall portrait session! Oscar is Sophie’s first pony and their journey started a little over two years ago, though you would hardly be able to tell when you are with them. These two have built a remarkable bond and friendship and had obviously spent countless hours at the barn together, just enjoying each other’s company. Oscar’s spunky and sassy personality complimented Sophie’s quiet and calm demeanor perfectly and you could just tell that these two bring out the best in each other. We spent the evening laughing over Oscar’s antics and sassy personality, and his perpetual fear of plastic bags. It’s obvious that these two have built a remarkable partnership in a short time, conquering horse shows together, progressing in their training, facing uncertainty in soundness issues, and even working on Oscar’s fear of tarps! It reminded me a lot of my early days with Diesel and how quickly you can build a bond with the right horse!

“He is the best first pony one could ask for! He is teaching me so much and keeps me on my toes.”
