Christmas Mini Session 🎄 Sheilagh & Guinness
Getting to capture a partnership time and time again is one of my favourite parts of my job! This was my second time capturing the beautiful connection that Sheilagh and Guinness share, and it was just as wonderful the second time around. Sheilagh is always a delight to be around and her warm and friendly attitude certainly made it easier to bear this freezing cold day at Fire Horse Stables near Sherwood Park 🥶
Though it may not have been a warm day, the warmth that exudes from these images is completely undeniable, absolutely perfect for a Christmas Card! If you’re starting to think about your own Holiday Cards for the 2023 season, let’s book a session together and get your beautiful holiday card images captured, and print beautiful custom holiday cards to share with your friends and family 🎁💌🎄
Worried about staying warm for your own Christmas Mini Session?
It can be intimidating to book a winter session, to willingly stand out in the cold of the Alberta winters, but with a little bit of advice, I know you’ll be just fine!
First and foremost, I will never photograph a session in unsafe conditions, so if it is truly too cold and at risk of frostbite or other concerns, I will always reschedule our session. But assuming our session goes ahead, I always recommend putting warmth above fashion. Winter is not the time of year to wear open toed shoes, shorts, dresses or other fair weather clothing. Jackets, boots, mittens, toques and the like all perfectly fit with Winter and Holiday photos. If you are wanting to wear less warm clothing, I would recommend bringing a warm jacket, shoes, mittens etc. to put on when you need to warm up between photos.
I would also consider the warmth of your horse, if they are fully clipped, I would potentially consider having a cooler or stable blanket for them so that they are not uncomfortable for the duration of the photos.
Finally, I am never going to make anyone freeze outside. If you or your horse are feeling cold and uncomfortable, I will always advocate for going inside to take a break and warm up.
The photos are going to look best if you are happy and comfortable, not grimacing through your teeth!
