Photographing Foals at Paints Plus Equestrian

I had the privilege of spending a morning photographing beautiful and adorable foals at Paints Plus Equestrian Center. As an equine photographer, my days are so often focused around capturing specific moments in life and framing subjects to capture the beauty. I adore this part of my job, and never get tired of it but it was so refreshing to have a day to capture the natural joy of these babies with no expectations.

There were three new bundles of life at the barn, two colts and one filly and all three were adorable and rambunctious. The black and white paint was the youngest colt, but you could hardly tell that in size. His name is Churro and he had the longest legs of all three and was very curious for being less than a month old. He happily came over to investigate me and my camera and was pleased to get some scratches and pets. The oldest filly was also curious, happily coming over to me for bum scratches and cuddles. She is an adorable appaloosa and a stunning, dainty little thing named Arrow. I am certain she will grow up to be a show stopper. The third colt, Nacho, is a Fjord Standardbred cross and was the shyest of them all. He never came over to me but was happy to observe from a safe distance. He is a month younger than Arrow but just about as big and growing fast.

All three of the foals completely captivated my attention for the hours I was there. It was completely worth getting out of bed early to get to witness them frolicking, playing and exploring life. On this Mother’s day I am happy to be celebrating the beauty of new life, the gift that makes a mom a mom. To all the mothers out there, whether you are mother to a child or a fur baby, Happy Mother’s Day! I hope you are celebrated today for all that you do ♡
