Horse & Rider Session // Kyra & Chepetto D

It seems that every year my favourite sessions end up being those I get to capture at sunrise. Not many people are willing to brave the early mornings involved with a sunrise session, so I don’t get to capture very many of them but boy when I do I just fall in love! As with any sunrise session, it was a bit of a struggle to get out of bed for Kyra’s session but as soon as I arrived at the farm and was bathed in that early morning light, I knew we were going to capture something magical.

It was obvious spending time with these two that they were a match made in heaven. Chepetto D, affectionately known as Pepe was a big ball of energy, nerves, and a touch of anxiety, all in this huge warmblood body. He was an absolutely stunning and incredible horse to be around but I don’t think just anyone could have handled this horse the way that Kyra does. She was calm, patient, and understanding of her equine partner, never letting his antics take the smile off her face. They had a remarkable trust and understanding in one another, not to change the other or force them to be something they aren’t but to patiently accept the other as they are and work together. This bond clearly has built the foundation to take them anywhere, as Kyra spoke of one of her favourite memories with the beautiful Pepe was galloping around the Grand Prix field after placing 4th in a huge 1.15m class! With a partnership like this, I’m sure there is nothing that this pair can’t do!

β€œHe and I make such a great team and I help manage his anxiety and he helps manage mine!.”
