Horse and Rider Session // Jasmine & Maybe its Maybeline
This session pretty much convinced me that it does not get more magical than this and that I was photographing something out of a Disney movie, all we needed was a horn for Mabel and she would be a real-life unicorn, at least thatβs what it felt like! Organizing this session though was not something out of a Disney movie! We had to postpone twice because of the weather and even with all the rescheduling, we still ended up with some clouds. Weather aside though, Jasmine and Mabel could not have been more perfect models and were a dream to work with.
After getting over the initial adoration of Jasmineβs stunning dress and how adorable Mabel looked in her wreath, it was talking to Jasmine and watching her bond with Mabel that really made me love this session. Jasmine had owned Mabel for 5 years and described her as her heart horse, saying that she would never be going anywhere, especially now that her young daughter loved the mare as much as she did! It was obvious that through all the times and years that she had shared with the stunning grey mare, that they had a strong connection. Jasmine also spoke of her work to build a non-profit to help lower-income children access horses and be introduced to the equestrian sport, a cause that was clearly close to her heart and that I found deeply inspiring. We spoke at length about the ways that the sport had changed and become less accessible over the years and what a disservice this was to the community. It was evident that Jasmine was not only an impressive horsewoman, with a strong bond with Mabel but also an impeccable individual with a strong desire to enact positive change!
This session was one of creativity and magic, and Jasmine was never short of new ideas for posing and was always open to trying my new ideas, even if it meant getting her beautiful dress wet! I know we all ended up with our fair share of mosquito bites and maybe some wet toes too but also some wonderful memories and stunning images! I felt honoured not only to capture what a wonderful relationship she shares with Mabel and a piece of their journey but to get to know Jasmine, about her passion for the fiddle, and her non-profit and a little bit about her life. Itβs a session that I am sure will stick with me for a while!
