Horse & Rider Session // Laura Mariee Robbins & Beanz, Electra & Quinnie

The entire week leading up to Laura’s session I had been regularly checking the forecast, hoping that it would change from the dreaded rain that was promised. Even up until the day of the session, the forecast was still uncertain and we were dancing around the idea of rescheduling. I couldn’t have been happier when the morning clouds cleared and we moved to go ahead that evening! And it couldn’t have turned out any better if I had dreamed up that evening!

I arrived at the barn, a little uncertain, with it being the first session back after being on hold due to COVID but quickly settled into the familiarity of chatting with Laura and cuddling with the ponies. It was going to be a busy session, with her three horses, one of whom she had only brought home the day before. I was lucky I had my assistant and Laura’s lessor to act as my extra pair of hands, they were both a huge help!

The session could not have been more perfect, the sky was perfectly clear and granted us a beautiful golden sunset. Laura’s horses were all angels and behaved beautifully, not to mention they all looked stunning, with groomed and shining coats, even her practically white pony was clean. Laura was wearing her stunning grad dress which sparkled and reflected the sun, casting beautiful light on her an the horses. I was grateful to capture her relationship with Beanz again and to capture the amazing partnership she shared with Electra. After so many years it was her first time getting photos with the amazing mare who she had practically transformed in their time together. I was honoured she chose me to finally capture their friendship, partnership and connection!

Laura is an incredible rider, equestrian, horsewoman and individual and I couldn’t be happier to have her on my team and an ambassador! I’ll never get tired of capturing her connection with her horses and with any luck she will keep acquiring more so I can keep coming back to photograph them! If they are all as cute and tiny as Quinnie, I might just do it for fun!
