Boone’s story reminded me much of my own horse's. Just like Diesel, he was bred to be a cow horse - but his first career path didn’t quite work out, and he turned out to be an excellent jumper. It also reminds me of my own story, and I’m sure many of us out there, who are currently working in a field completely different than we went to school for. It’s a good reminder that no matter how many years you have invested in your path (in the case of our horses, it is generations of effort that has gone into breeding them to succeed on this path!), you can always change direction and do something different!
But back to Boone, he was the cutest and sweetest guy! And just stunning, his orange coat shone in the sun and I don’t even want to know how long it took Becca to get his white spots SO white! It was a beautiful June afternoon at Advanced Connection Equestrian when I captured his portraits and he was a perfect model. Becca described him as an excellent jumper who always put his whole heart into his job, and I have no doubt that he found the perfect second career and the perfect home with Becca!
“I felt lucky to come across Boone - He was only the third horse I tried, and I loved him. He was different to what I was used to, but he was sooooo sweet. He was a horse bred by his current owner, who was supposed to be a cow horse but he was afraid of cows! So they changed his career path and pointed him at some jumps. He has such a big personality. He keeps things interesting. And he has taught me SO much. He's not perfect, but he's mine - and just hanging out with him makes me feel better.”
